"We are making an API for buying things." That was the first line of Zinc's YC application nearly 12 years ago. Today we're announcing three updates that take us closer to that original vision — starting with Zinc 2.0, a beta of our universal ecommerce API that can buy from any URL with a checkout.
Since founding, Zinc has programmatically purchased and shipped over $600 million in products — more than 20 million orders fulfilled for customers. For this next decade, we're expanding from a curated list of retailers to buying from any site that has a checkout, with MPP agent payments, transparent per-call pricing, and infrastructure built for AI-native commerce.
Ecommerce UX is broken: search is noisy, ads are everywhere, and checkout flows bury you in cookie banners and popups. Zinc gives builders — whether you're shipping an AI shopping agent, a gifting platform, or something we haven't imagined yet — the API layer to complete purchases programmatically instead of sending users back to a retailer checkout. 💅 Zinc's New Look
We were long overdue for a facelift, so we came up with a new identity that celebrates what Zinc helps automate the purchasing & shipping of: Products! Our new website & brand show off the products we all buy online and emphasizes Zinc's role in building the pipes that move these physical products from the warehouse to your customers' doorstep.
